Underwater Adventures Dive Center is dedicated to providing wonderful experiences for its customers.  That is our core goal – all aspects of our company have been designed with this in mind.  Whether you are taking a class, purchasing dive gear, going on one of our trips to the Caribbean, or simply stopping by the store to see what we’re about, you’ll notice the difference in the way we put you, the customer, first.  We view each interaction with our customers as a chance to learn about and meet the needs of another person.

Our Store Our retail dive center is truly a modern, attractive, and inviting store in which customers can shop for scuba and snorkeling equipment and take classes in a fun and friendly environment.  The store is designed to be used as both a retail area and as a comfortable venue for classes and other events such as presentations or social activities.  With its interactive displays and educational and entertaining games, we like to think of it as a diving theme park! Our convenient location in Short Hills, NJ is central to customers in Essex, Union, Morris, and Somerset counties and throughout north-central New Jersey.  We are right off of interstate 78 so we are easy to visit.

 

Company Background

Underwater Adventures was formed by Paul Mickel so that he could provide great experiences for his customers and share his passion for scuba diving and teaching.  Paul worked for large insurance companies as an underwriting manager for 20 years before deciding to use his skills in a business that has many opportunities to create memorable experiences for its customers.  He wanted to create a different kind of business with fresh ideas for a retail environment and for customer service.  He also wanted to be able to give something back in a way he couldn’t in his insurance job.  In creating Underwater Adventures, Paul had the opportunity to select the best of everything – the top quality equipment, a beautiful, modern store, the most sought after diving certifications, and innovative customer service programs.  Our focus is squarely on the customer.  Come visit us and see what we mean!

Giving Back

In addition to the business side of diving, Underwater Adventures has as part of its mission to give back through educational and sponsored programs.  Our focus is on increasing the awareness of the wonder and beauty of the ecosystems that exist underwater and to encourage others to protect and maintain these fragile environments.   Visit the Protecting Our Environment section of the website and stop by the store to see what we’re doing to preserve the living things that exist underwater.

We also use Underwater Adventures as a platform to support local community groups and to help others by organizing and participating in outreach activities.  Look for events in the News and Events section of the website to upcoming outreach activities

About the UADC Logo The image of the diver descending represents the wonder and beauty of the underwater world.  The diver is entering a peaceful realm and momentarily leaving behind the world above.  The logo is a reminder of that experience, and how we strive to pass the experience along to others.
