Open Water Scuba Diving 8-29-10

Monday, August 30th, 2010

A perfect weekend of diving at Dutch Springs. We had an amazing time with 13 new Open Water Divers being taught by our 4 instructors and 3 divemasters. The weather was perfect and we all had fun eating, laughing, and joking in between dives. Thanks to everyone for such a great weekend for us all. We hope to see you again soon.

Scuba Diving Certification Dives at Dutch Springs

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

What a weekend at Dutch Springs. We had a boisterous group of divers doing a lot of diving. Water temperatures ranged from 82 to 48 degrees, encouraging shallower dives. Our Advanced Open Water students didn’t have that luxury, with 4 or their 5 dives being 50 ft. or deeper, including a deep dive approaching 90 ft. And of course there was the night dive where we explored several areas of the quarry with only our dive lights to guide us. In the end our 5 Advanced Students passed with flying colors.

And let’s not forget our Open Water students. They all demonstrated their skills very well for their instructor, Steve. The whole group celebrated with a barbeque as we signed log books and congratulated each other.

A big thank you to our instructors and divemasters that made the weekend such a success!

Trip to Nassau, Bahamas

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

We return from the Bahamas with lots of stories of the fun things we saw and did above and underwater. We had some milestones to celebrate: Maureen and Donnie completed their PADI Open Water Diver Certification. And Gerry logged his 100th dive. Congratulations to all.

Diving with Stuart Cove’s was a pleasure. A real first class operation. Our captain and divemasters were professional and personable, and we had the same crew on our own boat each day. We saw lots of sharks and marveled at these beautiful creatures as they swam around us by the dozen during the shark feed dive. The 75 degree water was warmer than at home, but still a bit chilly for many of us as some of us doubled their layers of neoprene to keep from being too cold in the water after multiple dives each day.

Aside from the shark dives, the highlight for many of us was the night dive, where we explored a great dive site and saw how the reef comes alive after dark.

The weather was very nice, except for a downpour one afternoon that got us all soaked as we went out for a fish fry dinner in Nassau.

Thanks to Gerry and Scott for contributing their photos to our collection.

Next trip: Roatan, Honduras in October. Who’s in???
